Art

Art gives all children the ability to express themselves, to be creative and to use their imagination whilst promoting their wellbeing through mindful and child-centred activities.

To promote a love of learning, our staff teach the children a range of techniques and evaluative skills which enables them to develop their own artistic preferences and make informed decisions when creating independent pieces of art. Our children particularly enjoy the freedom they are given to explore a wide range of materials and tools.

We use our sketch books to create a learning journey. In these, the children include skill development, experimentation, knowledge development, evaluation and their independent final pieces. These sketchbooks encourage children to take ownership and pride in their work and to reflect on the progress they have made throughout their time in school encouraging them to have continually high aspirations in their work.

The children will be given a wide range of exciting opportunities for cultural enrichment such as meeting, visiting and working alongside local artists and galleries; partaking in extracurricular art clubs and projects and exploring art work from a wide range of time periods, cultures and movements.
