Geography

We aim to breathe life into the geography curriculum so that it remains with our children for many years to come. We achieve this through engaging and immersive topics that develop curiosity and a love of learning.

Our geography curriculum is designed to expose children to the wider world, encouraging them to develop a deeper understanding of where they live and an in-depth knowledge of diverse cultures and global communities. Through this, we support cultural enrichment by fostering appreciation and respect for the world’s varied traditions and ways of life.

To build high aspirations, we provide opportunities for children to develop key geographical skills such as research, observation, measurement, recording and presentation. These transferable skills equip them not only for academic success but also for future careers, inspiring them to see geography as a potential pathway. We further nurture their passion for geography through afterschool clubs that develop curiosity about the world and introduce them to exciting possibilities.

Fieldwork plays a crucial role in our curriculum, allowing children to apply their learning in practical contexts. By participating in varied fieldwork—on school trips, within the local area and through virtual explorations—children build resilience as they face challenges and adapt to new environments. These experiences also promote their wellbeing, as they connect with nature, collaborate with peers and develop a sense of achievement through hands-on exploration.

Our curriculum emphasises developing a passion for geography by creating engaging learning experiences that ignite curiosity and provide cultural enrichment. By immersing children in the wonders of the world, we help them grow into informed, confident individuals who understand and value the diverse planet they call home.
