Design and Technology

Design and Technology at Bankfields Primary School is essentially a practical subject that promotes a high level of curiosity and a love of learning. Throughout the DT curriculum, children are inspired by engineers, designers, chefs and architects to enable them to explore, plan, create and evaluate a range of structures, mechanisms, textiles, electrical systems and food products with a real-life purpose

It allows children to become more resilient throughout the design, making and evaluation process and provides them with a greater knowledge and understanding of the world around them. They develop a high level of problem-solving skills whilst working both independently and collaboratively with others.

Our aim is to provide our children with a rich and enjoyable experience of design and technology, in which they can acquire and develop key knowledge and skills for designing, making and evaluating throughout their primary school journey, in line with the national curriculum expectations.
